The Southern part of Solukhumbu offers many options to the trekker. Pikey Peak and Pikey, Dudhkhunda Treks are newly opened in this region of Nepal. We walk through many small villages, the people rely mostly on farming for their livelihoods. We may spot evidence of wild animals such as leopards, jackals, mongoose, deer, bear and langur monkeys. Once reaching Pikey Peak the views are wonderful of a great number of snow capped peaks, including Everest, Makalu and Kanchenjunga Himal.


Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu, transfer to hotel
Day 02: Kathmandu to Shivalaya, an 8 – 9 hour drive by bus.
Day 03: Shivalaya (1770m) to Bhandar (2190m) 5-6 hour walk
Day 04: Bhandar to Goli Kapti (1760m), 5-6 hour walk
Day 05: Goli Kapti to Ngarr (3360m), 4-5 hour walk, visit the cheese factory here.
Day 06: Ngarr to Thaktar (2700m) via Pikey Peak (4068), 7-8 hour walk. The views from Pikey peak of the Himalayan Range are spectacular.
Day 07: Thaktar to Thupten Chholing Gompa, 4-5hours walk
Day 08: Thupten Chholing Gompa to Phore , 5-6 hours.
Day 09: Phore to Dudhkhunde Lake, 4hours walk
Day 10: Dudhkhunde Lake to Thaksindu, 6-7 hours
Day 11: Thaksindara to Beni Khola, 5-6 hours
Day 12: Beni Khola to Phaplu, 3 hours
Day 13: Fly back to Kathmandu.
Day 14: Departure home

Prices vary depending on level of service you require and grade of hotel accomodation, climbing permit and group size, please contact us. The information below is based on a full service.

The price covers the following services:

  1. Hotel accommodation in Kathmandu on a bed and breakfast basis.
  2. Three meals a day (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) with hot beverage and snacks whilst on trek.
  3. Tea house accommodation whilst on trek.
  4. Sagarmatha National Park permit, Climbing permits.
  5. Domestic airfare (Kathmandu – Lukla – Kathmandu).
  6. Domestic airport tax.
  7. An experienced English speaking climbing guide, or where possible language of your choice trained and licenced by the Government of Nepal, Ministry of Tourism & Civil Aviation. Climbing guide equipment.
  8. Hire of climbing equipment.
  9. Highly experienced well equipped trekking porter.
  10. Staff food, accommodation, clothing, salary & insurance.
  11. All necessary ground transportation.
  12. Airport transfers.
  13. All governmental procedure.
  14. Farewell dinner in Kathmandu at typical Nepali restaurant.

The price does not cover the following services

  1. Meals in Kathmandu. Extra hotel nights.
  2. Expenses of a personal nature, internet access, charging batteries, showers etc.
  3. Bar and beverage bills.
  4. Your Travel Insurance, helicopter rescue and cover for any other adventurous activities that you may take part in.
  5. Rescue & Evacuation.
  6. Gratuity (tip) for staff.
  7. Nepal entry visa

This is a very strenuous trek. You must have a good level of cardio vascular fitness.
The climb at Mera requires that you use helmet, ropes, ice axe and crampons.
We have one acclimatisation day.
Our highly experienced climbing guides will do a climbing clinic at Kare and base camp.
We are at altitude for 14 days.
